Headbanger Audi R8 On Its Way!

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Not for the feint hearted this one…….

Ok, so we all know Audi’s spectacular R8 is a bit of a machine - and we also should know that they are nigh on impossible to get hold of unless you only work saturdays, on a field with 48,000 people watching you!

But they’ve gone one step further - in typical Audi fashion

You didnt think the S4 was quick enough? - You got the RS4

You didnt think the S6 was quick enough? (get some help!) - You got the RS6

You see, Audi have always done it. The minute you thought they had build the ultimate Porsche eater, they went too far.

S2 - RS2

We dont need to go on. Suffice to say - Audi are a bit like that funny young lad down the pub, great fun, easy to get on with until he has a drink……then you have an RS

So, they are going to do it with the R8. We are now going to get a V10 (no its not a lambo or RS6 engine), we are going to get 520 BHP which means we are likely to get very low 4 second 0-60’s

If the price is sensible, this is going to be the joyriders R8.

Bring it on!

Car Leasing Fair Wear And Tear - Customer Responsibilities

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

When you take charge of a lease car, you have certain responsibilities to the contract hire company. Here is a rough guide.

  • Ensure the contract hire company is aware of the intended use of the vehicle and is notified of any change of use during the period of rental
  • Make sure the vehicle is used within the manufacturers weight carrying specification, thus preventing overloading
  • Not allow the vehicle to be used for the conveyance of noxious or toxic substances, foodstuffs, fish, offal or any other offensive or pungent smelling goods without prior approval from the contract hire company
  • Comply with the contract hire company’s and manufacturers’ service and maintenance schedule
  • Submit the vehicle for servicing and repair during the hire period in line with the rental company’s and manufacturers’ maintenance schedule. This includes weight testing of load bearing equipment
  • Seek written permission from the contract hire company before any alterations to the vehicle are made, eg. drilling holes to fit racks, mobile phones, beacons etc. All such alterations must be made good at the end of the contract.

Arm is hurting now, will continue this tomorrow.

Nissan Electric Cars are fully on the way - except the 350Z

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

It seems that Nissan are going right out there with a all electric car view. Would be good when it comes to the London Congestion charge..

Predicting the future is never easy, but Nissan’s future product planner, Tom Lane, reckons it’s proving harder than ever these days.‘I’ve been with Nissan for 16 years and I’ve never known a period quite like it,’ says Lane. ‘The US consumer is not particularly motivated by fuel economy right now, but if the oil price climbs any more that could change within the space of a month, and trying to predict when that might happen is next to impossible.’

The answer at Nissan is the ongoing development of a number of solutions for reducing CO2 emissions, including all-electric cars, which could be with us sooner than you might expect.

‘Our current thinking is that some countries will adopt a zero-CO2 limit for city centres,’ says Lane. ‘So we plan to introduce an all-electric car by 2009/10. I predict that they will become commonplace by 2015 thanks to new battery technology.’

But Lane is adamant that this doesn’t mean Nissan will be abandoning sports cars in the future. ‘The 350Z has been a huge success for us,’ he explains, ‘and that car’s replacement is around 24 months away. It will feel sportier than the current car as it will be a lot lighter. The one thing I do know for certain is that having fun isn’t going to go out of fashion.’
